Grassmere is the home of Grassmere gingerbread and the little house where Sarah Nelson used to bake the gingerbread is still standing.
History behind Grassmere Gingerbread
Sarah Nelson's home where she used to bake gingerbread
It is a tiny house with a small counter where you make your purchases.
There is always a long queue to get in and to make purchases of gingerbread and other ginger products such as ginger fudge.

The famous Wordsworth Daffodil Garden is also in Grassmere.
Entrance to Wordsworth's Daffodil Garden
From Wordsworth's poem "The Daffodils"
The footpaths are paved with stones bearing the names of donors from all over the
country and abroad.
Each stone has the names of donors
Donors have their names engraved on the stones paving the footpath in the garden
